New Energy Upgrade Program brings Rebates to Alameda County Homeowners

A rare alliance of Federal, state and local utility resources is providing “one stop shopping” for home owners wishing to seek rebates and information regarding energy upgrades for their homes. Energy Upgrade California recently debuted in Alameda County, and through this calendar year monies will be available to incentivize improvements at varying levels to the energy effiiciency of new and existing homes. On Saturday, July 9th from 9 – 11 am, local homeowners can visit Truitt and White Lumber company in Berkeley for a free seminar and learn more about the program, and the benefits of making one’s home more energy efficient.

Energy Upgrade CaliforniaYou can also visit the Energy Upgrade California website, and find contractors in the area who are certified with the program to provide home energy reviews, or to actually perform work to improve the efficiency of your home. There is a $1000 rebate for a basic package of improvements offered by PG&E. This package of measures includes air sealing, attic insulation, duct sealing, insulation of hot water pipes, low-flow shower heads, carbon monoxide detector, and combustion safety testing. There is also an advanced package with a rebate that varies based on measured performance improvement.  Albany homeowners are eligible for an additional program.
