Privately presenting a Wonderful Arts & Crafts Home in Upper Rockridge

by arlene on April 7, 2011

It is rare that I would have a wonderful listing and not want to show it to as many people as possible. After all, isn’t that the way to get my seller the highest price? Normally I would argue strongly in favor of giving every listing full market exposure, but sometimes life intervenes. In the case of my current Arts & Crafts listing in Upper Rockridge, my client has a dog, and a daughter trying to finish her last year of high school this month. She also has a tenant, also with a dog. A few controlled showing times seemed like a reasonable approach under the circumstances. So I’ve spread the word within my company, and to a few select agents who are likely to have Rockridge clients who would appreciate a property with wonderful original period details.

So this weekend I will hold two semi-public open houses, one on Saturday, one on Sunday. The many, beautiful windows have just been washed, so here’s hoping for a dry weekend!

This 1914 three-level home offers tremendous and flexible space, great location, and lovely period details. It has served as an ideal home for raising a family, and is especially suited to extended families. The upstairs consists of three bedrooms and two baths, including a spacious master suite opening to an expansive deck with views. The main level rooms all are gracious, and feature original fir built-ins, moldings and beamed ceilings. In addition to the grand dining room with a spacious buffet, there’s a living room with window seats, a separate library nook, and a sleeping porch with lovely views of the south bay and Oakland hills. The lower level has been used both as a family room and guest room, with its own bath and kitchen, and more recently as an in-law apartment. It has its own access from the extensive deck that surrounds a majestic redwood tree. A hot tub provides a soothing soak at the end of the day. A separate garage provides tremendous storage options.
